The original plan was to make a sundress, however with such a bold fabric we both came to the decision that a fifties style dress would be too overwhelming. Instead the fabric works beautifully as a skirt teamed with a plain tshirt that doesn't draw attention away from the skirt and works to balance out the vivid colour and print. The skirt was made to be worn in Russia and I have been wearing it a lot during my time here as it's become one of my favorite outfits to go out in. I love how elegant but altogether low key a simple tshirt can look with a fifties skirt, making it a great casual look that still has a vintage feel to it.

There are not words enough to describe how much I really and truly love that skirt. What an amazing job Kayla did on it - and how sublimely pretty it looks on you. Were she ever to sell these skirts, I swear, I'd be the first in line to try to purchase one.

Super cute - you and the skirt! Kayla is so talented; she really could sell her wares if she wanted to! I wish I had a talented seamstress friend to make up for my utter lack of skill. x

Lovely skirt!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I just adore this perfect pairing of the fabulous matryoshka print and simple black top! I'm all about circle skirts and t-shirts for simple vintage casual, and this is the perfect look for it. You honestly remind me so much of a blonde Dita in this outfit. So stunning! Kayla did a great job on that skirt too. ❤
