Giant Sunflowers & Gingham

I wish I'd had a chance to photograph these sunflowers a few weeks earlier when they were less wilted and absolutely magnificent, but although they look a little sad and worn now I still think they are most impressive for how tall they are! I think it's spring - I never really know what season it is here and on the day we took these photos it definitely felt like summer so I ended up wearing this light gingham dress to pop into the garden and water the plants.

I should probably mention that this is most definitely not what I wear to do gardening in - only when I pop in to quickly water things, for actual heavy duty gardening that requires digging and planting I wear my Freddies of Pinewood jeans. Some of you asked me on instagram whether this dress is vintage, and it is actually not - although it sure does look it! It's by a UK vintage reproduction company called Heyday who make great quality pieces that have a true vintage look and feel.

Dress - Heyday
Shoes - Forever New
Sunglasses - Ebay

  1. Your spring looks about x100 better than our summer has managed this year!! Technically we're still in summer so that means you're in winter - and you're not even wearing a cardigan. Why do I live here again?! Anyway, this is the first time I've seen one of these dresses not in the very tall Fleur herself and it looks fab. Really suits you!

  2. Sooo pretty! Heyday's offerings really do look the genuinely vintage part and are a firm favourite of mine, too. I've never purchased anything from them that I didn't love and wear often (even the swing trousers I got a few years ago that are a touch too big - a tall belt solves that pronto! :)).

    Oodles of hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

Plus I agree with Cici - I'm sat freezing in my shop in our "summer" and your winter is so glorious!

  5. I think I tell you how great you look in gingham every time you wear it but that's because it's true! Also I can't believe that's your garden - it looks gorgeous! And that's fantastic that you can confuse winter with summer, it means it's coming and I can't wait!!
