House of Butterflies

This week is our last week in Russia and we are trying to see as many places as we can before we leave. The Butterfly House was a place I had been waiting to visit for a while and I was not disappointed. Inside the greenhouse-like room a tropical habitat had been recreated to house butterflies, tropical birds and even a chameleon! It was a magical experience to be in a room with clouds of butterflies flying inches from my face and at one point I felt a butterfly in my hair!

  7. I've been to a place like this and the butterflies would just land on your hand or hair or shoulder or anywhere. And they were so pretty and delicate. Their wings were like tissue paper. Glad you got to experience this!

  8. Ooh, butterflies! My favourite :) I do love visiting these sorts of places, it's such a wonderful experience. The butterfly with the green stripes on its wings is one of the most stunning Lepidoptera I have seen (I think it might be a green swallowtail but don't quote me!) - I have a collection of green and blue pinned Lep specimens and I really must add one of those to my collection! I love the way the iridescent colour on the wings catches the light. I just adore chameleons too, with their little googly eyes.
